Chiropractic Treatment for Herniated Disc Pain
Trained chiropractor Yola Dabrowski is certified in several techniques, including the active release technique and craniosacral activation. When actively treating patients, Yola Dabrowski has diagnosed and managed the symptoms of conditions such as herniated discs.
Spinal discs become herniated when there is a rupture or tear in the outer part of the disc, known as the annulus. The center of the disc, or the nucleus, pushes through this rupture and places pressure on the nerves, which can result in pain.
Chiropractors can use non-invasive treatments to address the pain or the underlying conditions that caused the herniated disc. The flexion-distraction technique can gently move the disc nucleus back into place. Chiropractors may also teach their patients exercises such as pelvic blocking that will shift weight away from the spine and reduce pressure.
In situations where manipulating the area is too painful to be tolerated by the patient, chiropractors may provide care after the area is numbed with an injection. In some cases, the patient may be placed under general anesthesia.
